    The administration of the college is vested with the Principal subject to the general direction and control of the Leo Colleges’ Central Committee. College Council is a statutory body to advice and to assist the Principal in all academic and administrative matters. The College council consists of Heads of the Department and four elected representatives, from among the teaching staff, and the Administrative Assistant. Principal is the Chairman of the council. A secretary is elected from among the members, and the term shall be one year. The Council secretary issues notices of council meetings in consultation with the Principal. The secretary prepares and keeps the proceedings of the meetings. Two days’ prior notice is given for usual meetings and urgent meetings are convened at short notice.

  • 02. Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

    Quality enhancement is an integral part of institutional functioning. The IQAC of the college is constituted for accreditation by the NAAC in upcoming years. The quality sustenance and improvement are the prime spots of concentration of the cell. The IQAC in this college functions to sustain the momentum of quality consciousness among the stake holders of the institution. Through IQAC the institution hopes to make progress in every aspect of the institutional functioning.

    Discipline is the bedrock on which an academic institution functions. Discipline committee is constructed with the task of ensuring a peaceful campus congenial for efficient academic business. Any act of commission or omission on the part of the students which threaten the peaceful campus atmosphere will be properly investigated and appropriate disciplinary actions also be recommended to the college council for final pronouncement. The committee consists of senior faculty members, NCC Officers, Faculty Head /Officers, Staff advisors to the College two selected students representatives of the College.

  • 04. SCHOLAR SUPPORT PROGRAMME

    SSP aims at extending personalised additional support to students in chosen subjects of the curriculum that are challenging to the student identified through a systematic result analysis. Tutorials, study materials, additional lectures, question banks and interactive sessions help students understand subjects in an easy manner. A coordinator identified from among the faculty would supervise the conduct of the Programme in the Colleges.

    The Student’s Grievance Redressal System is an initiative taken by the College in accordance with the directions of the UGC for facilitating students to lodge his or her grievances pertaining to his life in campus. The basic aim is to ensure transparency in admissions, prevent unfair practices in higher educational institutions, and provide a mechanism for redressal of their grievances.

    A safe and harmonious work place is prerequisite for the optimal performance of the employees in any workplace. It has become imperative to provide a congenial atmosphere for the efficient functioning of the work force. The Grievance Redressal Cell for the staff looks into the grievances of both teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. It functions as per the norms and procedures laid down by the UGC, University and Human Rights Commission.

  • 07. ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT CELL

    Anti Sexual Harassment Cell of the College is constituted as per the regulations of the UGC and the judgment of the honourable Supreme Court issued in 1997, with a view to effective enforcement of the basic human right of gender equality and guarantee against sexual harassment and abuse in the campus. The proactive role of the Cell aims to combat sexual harassment, violence against women and ragging at the college. The cell functions as per the guidelines issued by the UGC, as the women’s citadel protecting lady students from atrocities and helping them in hours of need. Any type of sexual harassment physical, verbal or mental shall come under the purview of the cell, and it is empowered to initiate legal actions against such offences.

  • 08. ANTI-RAGGING CELL

    As per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the Central Government and the University Grants Commission issued orders to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging including any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student or students which cause or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student, or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student. Ragging is strictly prohibited on campus. If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the students concerned will be given the opportunity to explain their behaviour before the anti-ragging committee. If they are found guilty they will be suspended/expelled from the institution on the recommendation of the committee. Ragging cases shall be reported to the police.     The committee promotes enhancement of research output of the college. It makes the members of the faculty informed of the schemes of UGC and other funding agencies. The committee also makes sure that the proposals are submitted in time and proper follow up actions are made. It also makes invaluable suggestions for the improvement of the research centres of the college. The committee plans to launch a programme to encourage the UG students to engage more in research projects and research papers.

    Library committee functions to promote effective and interactive access and use of information resources. It prepares clearly worded rules and guidelines with regard to hours of access, circulation policies and other regulations to offer better services to the users. This committee is vested with the responsibility of recommending, selecting and purchasing books for the library. The committee also puts forward its recommendations regarding the improvement of infrastructure and the efficiency of library functioning.

Ethics committee is constituted to implant basic human values in students and thus make them kind and compassionate to the community around.     According to the 1998 UGC Guidelines for the establishment of Special Cell for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, for the universities and deemed to be universities, the purpose of these Cells is to help the universities in implementing the reservation policy with regard to the admission of students and the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff at various levels. Its function is also to help the SC/ST categories to integrate with the mainstream of the university community and to remove difficulties, which they may be experiencing.

    The LEO Committee for Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) is established as an Enabling Unit, in compliance with the UGC Scheme for Persons with Disabilities. Taking a pledge to secure the rights of persons with disabilities, this Committee aims to cater to the diverse needs of students, faculties, administrative staff, and visitors with disabilities at Leo. Leo strives to protect the rights and needs of every section of the society, thereby fulfilling the larger goal of making the Leo Campus as one of the most inclusive campuses. AIMS & OBJECTIVES: To foster respect and promote inclusiveness and ensure participation of persons with disabilities in all activities at the University. To aid and assist the college in formulating campus-wide, disability-friendly policies. To improve the accessibility of the College campus, in terms of both physical as well as virtual infrastructure. To protect the rights of persons with disabilities, in line with various legislations and other laws governing the land. To facilitate the overall journey of a student with a disability joining the College. To provide an equal playing field to all the persons with disabilities, both admitted and employed in the College. To assist the College in removing any barriers that may hinder the progress, empowerment, and granting of equal rights to various persons with disabilities. To conduct research activities in the field of disability laws, policies and practice. To organize events and activities in the College, sensitizing people about the needs and rights of persons with disabilities. To collaborate with other Institutions, Government departments, and Organizations for effective knowledge sharing in the field of disability studies.

  • 17. GENDER SENSITIVITY CELL

    A society that accepts diversity, believes in inclusion and fosters equality is a healthy, progressive and a productive way. Leo College established a Gender Sensitivity Cell, with the aim of facilitating gender-inclusive awareness, to encourage dialogue around gender equality and to bring about social change for better. The Cell constitutes of a Director, Staff, and Student Coordinators from each department which is represented by a male and female coordinator. At the outset, the coordinators were sensitized to understand the gender terminologies, objectives of the Cell and discussed their own aspirations for a gender-equal society. This session helped us to plan activities at the college level.

  • 18. MALPRACTICE PREVENTION COMMITTEE

    Candidates booked under infringement of examination rules shall be referred to a Malpractice Prevention Committee consisting of the Principal, Controller of Examinations, and two senior teachers nominated by the Principal. The Committee shall consider the case, hear the candidate, who resorted to malpractice, along with parent/ guardian and finalise the case.

    The planning board functions in the college with a view to elevate this reputed institution into a center of excellence in the near future. The board prepares and submits its proposals with a long term perspective, visualising how the college would be after a decade. The planning board assists the Director in formulating proposals to obtain financial assistance from various statutory organizations such as UGC, HRD etc. The board engages itself to see that the schemes are implemented as per the regulations and it also ensures that the distribution of funds is also made rationally.
